I'm not sure why, but I really love English musicians..... and it not because they are pasty white like myself. But the majority of my favourite bands are from the UK e.g. Muse, Gossip, Mark Ronson, Bloc Party, Florance and the Machine just to name a few. Well now I can add this new guy to the list... Dan Black.
Apparently he was originally from the band The Servant (one of their songs was in the movie Sin City) and has lent vocals to the Italian group Planet Funk.
His first album ((Un)) came out earlier this year, and here is the first single Symphonies with Kid Cudi. This clip was nominated for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards for Breakthrough Video and Best Special Effects.

Blog Apologies
I have been pretty slack on the blog lately but in my excuse it has been a big few weeks.
There has been the launch of Junior Masterchef, Glee Series 2, Gossip Girl Series 4 and who could forget the crazyness of the MTV Awards and the Gaga meat-dress.
So here is a quick catchup:
Junior Masterchef - Awesome little cooks making increadable things... this makes me want to have a baby, just so I can teach it to cook Baklava
Glee Series 2 - How hot is Britney S Pears!
Gossip Girl Series 4 - I'm not proud of it, but Gossip Girl is the highlight of my week.
MTV Awards - Wouldn't that smell?

Now that I have got that out of my system.... in other news I have decided that it is now warm enough to switch to summer wear, gone blonde and resigned from my job at the music company.... and not because I am pregnant, or fired, or fired for being pregnant as silly people keep asking.
It has been a big couple of weeks but today is finally my last day at this desk, in front of this PC with these lovely people and crazy goings on. It has been really sad to say good-bye but next week I will be off to a new adventure and adding Associate Producer to my hat rack.

Song of the week... Somebody To Love Me
I never thought I would be featuring a song with Boy George but the new tracks from Mark Ronson & The Business Intl. ft. Boy George 'Somebody To Love Me' is incredibly catchy. Ronson said he was inspired by Boy George's 'Do you really want to hurt me' and asked him to feature on the track. For some reason I find it very addictive. Can't wait for the official video clip.. so here is a live performance filmed for the BBC.
Check out Boy George's crazy face and neck tatoos! And I love Amanda Warner of MNDR on keys with her massive glasses.

And the Winner is... The xx
This years coveted Mercury Music Prize goes to The xx for their début album 'xx'. The UK group have been around for a few years now but only started releasing music last year.
Here is my favourite song from The xx 'Crystalised' which was used on Gossip Girl. That show always has great music.
Song of the Week... I Can Change
I love LCD Soundsystem and I'm very upset it will be their last album 'This Is Happening'. Enjoy it while it lasts....
This is a live recording of a gig in Holland in May this year, I hope the video clip will be out soon.

Tomorrow When The War Began - Review
I was really excited to see Tomorrow When The War Began, really excited. I had tickets reserved for weeks, I went to a 9pm session on a Friday night... I was keen. Like ever kid growing up in the 90s I read John Marsden novels about Australia being invaded and a bunch of country teenages fighting back and while the novel was really exciting and involving the movie was a huge disappointment.I actually spent most of the film thinking, why is this so bad? The story is great, the action is fantastic and the special effects faultless (amazing for an Australian film), the soundtrack was a great mix of Aussie indie rock and the scenery absolutely breathtaking. It is so close to being good, but falls short in a few major ways.
The film was really let down by a combination of bad script and bad acting and a bunch of stereotypical boring characters that had no personality. From the tough normal girl (Caitlin Stasey from Neighbours), rebellious best friend (Rachel Hurd-Wood), hot guy (Lincoln Lewis, Home and Away), rebel (Deniz Akdeniz), pretty posh girl (Phoebe Tonkin), Asian guy from the local Chinese restaurant (Chris Pang), straight laced Christian (Ashleigh Cummings) and stoner (Andy Ryan) none of these characters I found relatable in any way. There were brief glimpses of character when the rebel Homer and stoner Chris first enter the story but soon fade into the background with the rest of the characters. Even when one character nearly dies... it is really hard to care.
So many lines of the film were so cliche from the "I think it's time to go to war" to the discussion between two girls "How is the book?" "better than the movie". It seems like they just brought the film to screen without bringing it to life
Oh well, it was only 100 minutes of my life, I don't think there is much chance they will continue with the other novels in the series.
Have you seen the film? What did you think?
I'm A Rockstar
I like Rihanna, I really do. She is crazy (but not Gaga Crazy), has really catchy songs, and as I have said before I have a lot of respect for anyone confident to go sans-pants and I don't even think Rihanna owns pants.
I was just watching Rihanna's single Rockstar 101 featuring Slash and there are lot of things that puzzle me.... check out the video clip:
Firstly what has Slash have to do with it? He is not in the clip, and even TripleM can get him in their clip. Maybe just Rihanna wanted to dress up as Slash and smash a few guitars.
Another guest in the video clip is Travis Baker on drums, this one I think is even stranger.... can you hear any drums? As much as I like Rihanna, I think she should stick to what she does best.... catch pop songs and crazy outfits.
